01Who Is She?

for a while there were two of us and one apartment, and it was easy to mistake the closeness for something that couldn’t end. when it did, I was the one who packed the boxes and learned a new set of keys. I let a few months pass believing the silence between us was just grief taking its time. he had said he needed to be alone, and i believed him the way you believe someone you still love - completely, and against all the evidence.

then I found out about her. not a stranger anymore but a name, a face, a whole life running parallel to the one i thought we were quietly mourning together. this song is the question I couldn’t stop asking at three in the morning: who is she, and what does she have that i didn’t? fire and ice, à la david lynch - we always burned beautifully, and everyone but the two of us could see how fast we were disappearing.

“Коя е тя” is me letting go with a laugh caught in my throat, the kind that’s one breath from crying. it’s the sound of finally saying the last thing and meaning it, I won’t call after midnight, I promise, find your peace someday, and understanding, at last, that there was never going to be room in his heart for two.

02HELP

there is a certain kind of room where every glance is a small verdict. you walk in and you can feel the arithmetic happening, what you’re wearing, how much skin, whether you were ever meant to be here at all. this song was born in one of those rooms, and it turned into a dare to keep walking anyway.

“Помощ” flips the judgment inside out. they won’t be happy, they won’t accept you, so keep posing — bare-legged and unbothered, the star of your own night. don’t be ashamed. don’t be afraid. move through them like a train through a station. because the ones gasping for air, choking on their own smoke, the ones who actually need saving… it was never you.

03MORE

every so often you meet a woman who seems to be running on a different frequency. in step with something older than the room she’s standing in, the north on everybody’s compass. she doesn’t know how to call for help because she’s too busy talking to the universe. this song is a portrait of her: half someone I have known, half someone i have spent years trying to become.

“повече” is about the arithmetic of being more.. more than what was expected, more than what was offered, more than “yours.” it’s the quiet in her voice that no ego can frighten, the way she reads your color instead of your skin, the way she can cry without it wounding her. she follows nobody’s rules and knows exactly how simple the complicated things really are.

ff the rest of this record is about being undone, this is the song about standing back up as pure light. better on her own. More.

04edge of the night

this one lives at the hour when the day has let go and the night hasn’t decided what it wants from you yet. the moon becomes a mirror and shows you your own fears dancing on the water. you hear your name in the trees and you can’t tell whether it’s memory or an invitation.

“Edge of the Night” is a song about running… not away, exactly, but toward some far edge where you might catch a last glimpse of a face you weren’t ready to lose. there’s a secret path only you know, a valley of dreams, a fleeting embrace in the mist that dissolves the second you reach for it. It’s the chase you can’t win and can’t stop making.

the images i kept for this one are grainy on purpose, shot near water at the end of things, the light already leaving the frame. that is exactly where the song wanted to be photographed.

05make it right

some love is a storm you keep walking back into because you like the way the air feels afterward. this is a song about that… the two people who make a mountain out of every ledge, who love the drama a little too much, who say the unforgivable thing at midnight and then can’t stay mad for the life of them.

“Make It Right” is the truce that never lasts and never really wants to. it’s the “i might come over,” the confrontation that’s really just another way of saying don’t let me leave. i love this one because it refuses to pretend to be healthy. it simply tells the truth about how good the fight can feel when you already know how it ends.

the pictures here are the messy ones blurred, mid-motion, laughing or shouting, impossible to tell which. that’s the honest record of a night like this.

06she knows

every record needs one song that struts, and this is mine. “She Knows” is about the woman who walks in fully aware of the power she’s carrying.. the smile that undoes a man’s whole week of good intentions, the pull he can’t argue his way out of.

there’s no heartbreak in this one, no three-in-the-morning questions. Just a woman on the dance floor who has already won and knows it, and a man who couldn’t close the door if he tried. It’s addictive, it’s a little dangerous, and for once the one in control is her. I set out to write the confidence i don’t always feel  and somewhere in the recording, i started to feel it.

07tsunami

some feelings don’t arrive gently. they gather far out where you can’t see them, quiet for so long you forget to be afraid  and then the water pulls back from the shore all at once and you finally understand what’s coming. “Tsunami” is about that: the emotion you can’t outrun, the love or the grief that lands all at once and rearranges everything it touches.

i think of it as the record breathing out. after all the questions and the running and the fighting, here is the wave that finally takes you under — not as a punishment, but as a kind of surrender. sometimes being swept away is the most honest thing a person can do.
